Mr. Frankie Wilson
Earlier work

Before I studied behavior, I spent years moving people.

Media taught me how to listen. Entrepreneurship taught me how to build. Communications taught me that the message matters only when it reaches a human being.

Broadcasting & music

A voice built for connection

Over more than two decades in radio, including years as a syndicated host of Inside Gospel, I learned to hold a conversation with an audience at scale. My broadcasting work earned a Stellar Award in 2013. Music and storytelling remain part of how I understand culture.

Entrepreneurship

Zoe Communications Agency

As chief strategy officer and principal of behavioral communications, I help organizations connect strategy, message, and lived experience. The agency’s work has included public engagement, community education, and communication for complex change.

Public engagement

Making complex issues usable

In work with the City of Dallas, our team has helped residents engage with planning and zoning reform through clearer language, community dialogue, and more accessible participation.

Speaking & leadership

From the stage to the strategy table

My speaking and facilitation draw on broadcasting, faith, organizational strategy, and behavioral science. I translate difficult ideas into conversations people can use.

Public engagement

City of Dallas planning communication

The challenge: Make complex planning and zoning reform easier to understand and participate in amid distrust and uneven access to information.

My contribution: Behavioral communications strategy, audience analysis, public education, and community engagement through Zoe Communications.

The work: Clearer public-facing language and opportunities for community dialogue. Participation and comprehension outcomes have not been reported here.

Published research

Designing disability-inclusive communication systems

The challenge: Communication systems often assume standardized speech, dexterity, and attention, creating barriers to participation.

My contribution: Co-authored a framework and evidence synthesis with Feleceia B. Wilson, integrating inclusive planning, compensated co-design, accessibility checks, deployment, and reinforcement.

The output: A published theoretical contribution and prospective evaluation plan, presented at WCSNE 2026. The paper does not report an original intervention trial.

What carried forward

Communication is an environment.

The words we choose can open a door. The systems behind them determine who can walk through it.

That insight now shapes my research into agency, inclusion, behavioral readiness, and the design of participation.

On the stage

Research spoken into the room.

At the World Congress on Special Needs Education in Oxford, Feleceia and I presented our work on disability-inclusive communication. It connects our lived experience to a larger question for institutions: what happens when the communication system itself is the barrier?
